The Olympians

The Olympians

The Olympian gods are irrelevant, as nobody believes in or worships them anymore. They are a drain on their mother, Gaia, as they use her powers to fuel their own but don’t return those powers back to her in the form of deeds that benefit her or humanity. They no longer contribute to human lives, as they no longer use their powers to guide human beliefs or actions.

Gaia has decided that the Olympians have to leave Mt. Olympus, take on human form, and make their way in the human world, finding a way to contribute positively to human society by using their natural attributes. Once they live out their human lives, they will die and the pantheon will be completely disbanded. The gods’ transfer to humanity will take a full two years. They are allowed to have one supernatural ability, but only for three months, the length of time each god has to establish him or herself in the world as a fully functioning, productive member of society. The gods get no choice in which supernatural ability they retain. As their mother, Gaia makes that choice for them, and it’s not usually the one they would have picked themselves.
